Monaco beats Real Sociedad and is close to qualifying in the Europa League

Monaco knew how to take advantage of the chances created this Thursday and left the Stade Louis II with a 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad in the Europa League. The positive score leaves Niko Kovac’s team very close to qualifying for the knockout.

The result takes Monaco to 11 points in five games, leading group B. Real Sociedad follows with six points and in third place.

Monaco was more effective in the first half and managed to open the scoring after 27 minutes with Kevin Volland taking advantage of the ball. It didn’t take Real Sociedad to find the tie, with Alexander Isak in the 34th minute. But Monaco didn’t take long to make the second with Fofana and go to the break with the advantage.

The second half was warmer and the home team managed to hold the important result.

The two teams play the last round of the Europa League group stage on December 9, at 2:45 pm (GMT). Monaco visit Sturm Graz at the UPC-Arena and Real Sociedad host PSV at the Anoeta Stadium.
