O Barcelona beat Sevilla 3-0 away from home, this Saturday, for the Spanish Championship. With goals from Raphinha and Lewandowski, Barça reaches 10 points in the competition and occupies the second position, behind only Real Madrid, which leads with 12 points.

Despite the defeat, Sevilla started better than Barcelona and almost opened the scoring with Lamela in the 11th minute of the first half, but the Argentine striker was offside. The good start to the game was mainly due to the pressure on Barcelona’s exit and the performance of Isco, who debuted as a starter for Sevilla after leaving Real Madrid.

Even with that pressure, Barcelona resisted. In a counterattack, Lewandowski came out in front of the goal, gave a small hole and the defender took it over the line, but Raphinha took advantage of the rebound and opened the scoring. The Brazilian winger scored his first goal with the Barça shirt in the Spanish Championship. In the 35th minute, Lewandowski received a throw from Koundé, dominated from the chest and sent it to the back of the net.

On the return of the break, coach Julen Lopetegui made substitutions to try to change the scenario of the match. However, in the 4th minute, Raphinha crossed to Koundé who headed it for Eric Garcia to extend the score. Sevilla did little in the second half and went on without a win in La Liga. With the 3-0 defeat, the team drops to 17th position and has only 1 point in 4 games.

The two teams have a commitment to the Champions League in the middle of the week. Barça face Viktoria Plzeň, from the Czech Republic, at Camp Nou, while Sevilla welcome Manchester City, from England, at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. In the next round of La Liga, Barcelona face Cádiz away from home, looking for a victory to follow the leader’s tail Real Madrid. Sevilla will try their first victory in the competition against Espanyol, away from home, for the 5th round.
