O Paris Saint Germain (PSG) secured this Saturday another title of the French Championship. The Parisian team failed to get out of the draw with Strasbourg, by 1 to 1, but even so, it secured its 11th conquest with a round in advance.
Now, the club has isolated itself as France’s greatest national champion. The team was tied with Saint-Éttiene, with ten trophies.
PSG even took the lead with a goal by Argentine Lionel Messi in the second half. Strasbourg left everything the same a few minutes later, but it wasn’t enough to take the cup from Paris Saint-Germain’s hands.
Christophe Galtier’s team, therefore, can no longer be overtaken by Lens, who are five points behind the leader.
Once again French champions, PSG ends its participation in this edition of the tournament next Saturday. The team receives Clermont at the Parc des Princes, at 4 pm (Brasília time), for the last round of Ligue 1.
How was the game?
The first half of the match was one of very few emotions. PSG held most of the ball possession, but rotated from side to side and did not find spaces in front of a closed opponent.
The most dangerous chance of the initial stage came from Strasbourg, in the 37th minute. Diallo hit the post with a powerful shot from outside the area, giving goalkeeper Donnarumma a fright.
After half-time, Messi opened the scoring for Paris Saint-Germain. At 13 minutes, the Argentine received Mbappé in the area, cut to his left foot and hit hard to fill the net. Mbappé still missed an incredible chance at 24, alone in the area.
The tie occurred in the 33rd minute. Sanson finished and Donnarumma made a good save, but Gameiro checked the rebound and covered the goalkeeper, leaving everything the same.
Mbappé still had another opportunity to secure the victory, after Messi’s pass, but goalkeeper Sels came out well and grabbed the ball.
