Euskaraz irakurri: Ezusteko porrota jaso du Baskoniak Joventuten aurka, eta kantxa-faktorea galdu du (91-99)
Baskonia has conceded an unexpected defeat against Joventut Badalona in the first match of the Endesa League quarterfinals. The Baskonista team, second in the regular league, has been at the mercy of Carles Duran’s team, seventh, throughout the match.
Carles Duran’s team had the great success of Kyle Guy (36 points)Well also Vladimir Brodziansky, amassing up to 16 rental points in the first half. In tow and with the band of favorites in the locker room, the Basque team had no order, patience or success to avoid another Catalan coup like in the Cup.
The ‘Penya’, defeated in the League but victorious in the knockout tournament against those from Vitoria-Gasteiz, put the intensity of the ‘playoffs’ and 11 points from Guy and seven from Parra in the first quarter gave a good base (16-28). The American guard scored another 11 points in the second quarter and began his one-on-one with Howard.
Those from Badalona subjected their income to rest (39-48), with Tomic also very comfortable in an inside game absent from the locals. Joan Peñarroya’s men brought out a more choral version, more aggressive in defense, for the third quarter, but Joventut couldn’t get the vertigo, with Brodziansky responding to the rival approach.
From less to more, the Baskonia launched his last comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, a 10-2 run that warmed up the Buesa Arena. Thompson seemed to wake up in time, although it was Howard who had the gunslinger duel with a record-breaking Guy. The American signed the maximum score for Joventut in the ‘playoffs’, with triple record for the club (15), and the ‘Penya’ scored the first surprise.
With this result, Baskonia loses the court factor and faces a complicated second game of the tie, next Tuesday, in Badalona.
