The prosecutor’s office of Paris dropped the criminal case against the Russian tennis player Yana Sizikova
The prosecutor’s office of Paris finally closed the criminal case against the Russian tennis player Yana Sizikova. This was reported to TASS by her lawyer Frederic Belo.
“A Russian tennis player in doubles, who was detained and placed under arrest during the Roland Garros tournament in 2021, was cleared of all charges by the decision of the prosecutor,” Belo said. He stressed that now the athlete is free from all charges.
Sizikova was detained in Paris on June 4, 2021. She was suspected of deliberately losing a doubles match at Roland Garros in 2020. The tennis player was accused of sports corruption and organized fraud. Sizikova was later released from custody, but the investigation into her case continued.
