Defender who was part of the Palmeiras squad that won the unprecedented title of the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior earlier this year, Lucas Freitas, 21, was loaned this Wednesday by the club alviverde to Moreirense, which plays in the first division of the Portuguese Championship. The defender will play in Europe until mid-2023, with an option to buy at the end of the deal.

“Moreirense Futebol SAD informs that it has reached an agreement with Palmeiras for the temporary transfer of the athlete Lucas Freitas until the end of the current season with an option to buy. Lucas Freitas is a 21-year-old young Brazilian and plays as a central defender, having represented Palmeiras do Brasil in recent seasons playing in 3 matches in 2021 for the São Paulo team”, said the Portuguese club in a statement released on its social networks and on the official website.

The defender was part of the squad that won the Copa São Paulo, in January, and broke the age to stay in the under-20 team. He trained at the Football Academy with the professional squad commanded by Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira, but he did not play this season.

At the end of last year, Lucas Freitas even played in the final rounds of the Brazilian Championship, after Palmeiras anticipated the vacation of the main squad. There were three games, two as a starter. The defender’s link with Verdão is valid until the end of 2025.

“Formed at Flamengo, the young defender will have his second experience in European football, after having already represented Valladolid, from Spain, between 2019 and 2021”, informed Moreirense.
