Two of the most traditional Italian clubs take the field this Wednesday to play in the grand final of the 2022/23 Coppa Italia. The decision between Inter Milan e Fiorentina is scheduled to start at 4 pm (Brasília time), at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
This will be the first time that the teams will face each other in the final of this competition. Current holders of the title, Inter will seek to win the tournament for the ninth time in its history. Viola, six times champion, has not lifted the Italian Cup since 2001.
This season, Inter Milan and Fiorentina have already played two clashes for Italian Championship. The first ended with a victory for the Nerazzuri team, by 4 to 3, in Florence. Afterwards, at Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro), Viola gave the change and beat the rival by the score of 1 to 0.
Fiorentina lives with the opportunity to win two titles in the current season. The team also reached the final of the Conference League, after going through Basel, Switzerland. The decision will be against West Ham, in Prague, in the Czech Republic, on June 7, at 4 pm (Brasília time).
Finalist of Champions League, Inter live the same scenario. After eliminating the archrival Milan in the semifinals, the team commanded by Simone Inzaghi will dispute the decision of the main tournament of the European continent on June 10th, against Manchester City. The ball rolls from 4 pm onwards, at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium, in Istanbul, Turkey.
How do the finalists arrive?
Inter Milan reach another Italian Cup final after winning the Juventus in the previous phase. Before, the team still left Parma and Atalanta behind. The team, however, was defeated by champions Napoli in their last match for Serie A, by 3-1.
Inzaghi must count on the absence of Armenian Mkhitaryan, who left injured in the game against Milan in the Champions League. The midfielder underwent tests and was diagnosed with a muscle strain in his left thigh. The team’s top scorer of the season, Lautaro Martínez, should start as a starter.
Fiorentina, on the other hand, went through Sampdoria, Torino and Cremonese to reach the decision. The Viola by Brazilians Dodô and Arthur Cabral, former striker of palm treeswas in the tie with Torino for the penultimate round of the Italian Championship, by 1 to 1, with a goal by the Serbian Luka Jovic.
