Spartak condemned the persecution of football player Sobolev for an obscene gesture in a match with CSKA
The head of the press service of the Moscow “Spartak” Dmitry Zelenov made a statement about the removal of the striker of the team Alexander Sobolev for an obscene gesture in the match of the 28th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL) against the capital’s CSKA. His words are quoted by Sport-Express.
The red-whites condemned the persecution of the football player, calling the escalation of the situation unacceptable. In their opinion, Sobolev’s critics are trying to put pressure on the members of the control and disciplinary committee of the Russian Football Union (FTC RFU). “Sobolev’s gesture does not paint him, Sasha has already apologized for this,” Zelenov emphasized.
The meeting between Spartak and CSKA took place on May 21 and ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of the red-whites. In the 65th minute, Sobolev was sent off for an indecent gesture. The football player put two hands to the groin, expressing dissatisfaction with the opponent’s emotions. Later, the striker apologized for his intemperance and called his behavior inadmissible.
The episode with the removal of Sobolev will be considered at a meeting of the RFU FTC on May 24. The player will attend the meeting.
