Taekwondo fighters Khramtsov and Larin were not allowed to the 2023 World Championships because of their social networks
The reason for the non-admission to the World Taekwondo Championship of Russian Olympic champions Maxim Khramtsov and Vladislav Larin has become known. It is reported by TASS.
A source familiar with the situation said that additional checks were carried out on these two athletes. “They asked questions about social networks, why something was liked somewhere, somewhere there were some comments or photos,” he added.
Earlier on May 23, the World Taekwondo Federation provisionally approved the participation of 23 Russian athletes in the 2023 World Championships. The registration of Khramtsov and Larin was rejected because the athletes did not meet the criteria.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the SVO in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participation in competitions.
