France defeated by South Korea in under-20 World Cup opener; England beats Tunisia

This Monday, two more games followed the first round of the under-20 World Cup. A France was defeated by Tunisia, and the England won the South Korea.

At Malvinas Argentinas Stadium, in Mendoza, Argentina, France was defeated by South Korea by 2 to 1. This result leaves the South Koreans in the lead of Group F. France, in turn, is in the bottom.

Gambia x Honduras will still be on the field this Monday, at the same stadium, at 6 pm (Brasília time).

Both selections return to the field this Thursday, at 15:00. France face Gambia at Estadio Malvinas Argentina, while South Korea takes on Honduras at Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.

South Korea’s goal came in the 22nd minute of the first half. On the counterattack Kim served Seung-Won Lee well, who dominated, advanced and finished from the edge of the area to the right corner of goalkeeper Lo-Tutala.

France even had a chance to tie, but Korea scored the second goal in the 18th minute of the second half, with Young-Jun Lee, with a header. Shortly after, the French reduced, at 25, with Virginius, in penalty kick.

England beat Tunisia to open with victory

At Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, in La Plata, England beat Tunisia 1-0. The result puts the English at the top of Group E, while Tunisia is in last place. Uruguay and Iraq, which make up the group, will duel later this Monday, at 6 pm (Brasília time).

The English opened the scoring in the 25th minute of the first stage. Scarlett took advantage of a cross in the area, went higher than the defense and overcame the goalkeeper to swing the net and put England in advantage.

England’s next match is against Uruguay, at 3 pm on Thursday. On the same day, Tunisia faces Iraq, at 18h.
