The RFU called FIFA’s ban on RPL players to suspend contracts with clubs positive
Member of the executive committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Vladimir Krysin reacted to the new rule of the International Football Federation (FIFA) for players who returned to the Russian Premier League (RPL). His words are quoted by Sport24.
Krysin called the ban on acting players and coaches of the RPL to suspend contracts with clubs positive. “It’s good that they hear us and try to find some ways and ways out of the situation. I hope it continues like this,” he said.
According to the new terms of FIFA, the option to suspend the contract will not be available to foreign players and coaches who continue to work in Russian clubs. Also deprived of this opportunity are those who signed or extended the contract with the team after March 7, 2022. It is noted that the players who took advantage of the option can extend the suspension of the contract for another season.
FIFA allowed RPL legionnaires to unilaterally suspend contracts on March 7, 2022. Initially, the option was available until June 30, 2022, but then its validity was extended until June 30, 2023.
