Barcelona players convicted in Ukraine for video message to fans from Russia

Shakhtar called the appeal of Barcelona players to fans from Russia an immoral act

General Director of the Ukrainian football club “Shakhtar” Sergei Palkin condemned the players of “Barcelona” for appealing to Russian fans. His words are given on the team’s website.

“Shakhtar expresses its indignation at the widespread video message from Barcelona players Alejandro Balde and Sergi Roberto with words of gratitude to football fans from Russia,” Palkin said. He called it an immoral and unacceptable act and expressed the hope that the Spaniards would admit their mistake.

Earlier, Balde and Roberto addressed the fans from Russia and thanked them for their support. The players noted that the fans are part of the success of the team, which became the champion of Spain in the 2022/2023 season.

The statement of the players in a conversation with Interia Sport was condemned by their Polish teammate Robert Lewandowski. Dynamo Kiev, in turn, offered Barcelona to move to the Russian Premier League.
