Borussia Dortmund beats Augsburg to take top of Bundesliga

This Sunday, the Borussia Dortmund visited Augsburg for the 33rd and penultimate round of the Bundesliga and won 3-0. Sébastien Haller scored twice in the final stage and Julian Brandt closed the account. Felix Uduokhai was expelled by the Augsburg side in the first half and paved the way for a game without any major scares on the part of the visitors.

With the result, Borussia Dortmund reaches 70 points, takes the lead of the German Championship and opens two points in relation to Bayern Munich, who lost in this round to RB Leipzig by 3 to 1 and is now vice-leader. On the other hand, Augsburg continues with 34 points and is in 14th place, two points behind Z3.

Dortmund’s last match, which now depends only on itself to be champion, will be against Mainz 05, at home, next Saturday at 10:30 am (Brasília time). Augsburg, on the other hand, visits Borussia Monchengladbach also on Saturday, at 10:30 am.

The game

Borussia Dortmund dominated Augsburg in all aspects in the first half, mainly in finalizations and created chances. The disparity was even greater after defender Felix Uduokhai was sent off in the 38th minute. Even so, the visiting team was not able to clear the scoreboard after 45 intense minutes on the field.

With the numerical advantage in their favour, Dortmund eventually scored. In the 13th minute of the final stage, Sébastien Haller finally opened the scoring for the visiting team. With an even stronger dominance than in the first half, Borussia Dortmund reached the second goal in the 39th minute and once again with striker Haller.

Before the final whistle, at 48, Julian Brandt closed the account for Borussia Dortmund and scored the third for the team.
