The 28-year-old Russian fighter posted a processed photo of him standing opposite Dillashaw in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) octagon. Thus, Ian set his sights on a bout against the former organization’s bantamweight champion.
Yang is the interim UFC bantamweight champion. On October 30, at the UFC in Abu Dhabi, he defeated Corey Sandhagen. Initially, he was supposed to share the octagon with Aljamain Sterling, the holder of the bantamweight belt. However, the American withdrew from the fight, citing health problems.
Ian lost his UFC belt against Sterling. The Russian struck a forbidden blow and lost the fight. Sterling became the first champion in UFC history to win the title this way.
Dillashaw, 35, has won the UFC bantamweight belt twice.
