Roberto Firmino thanks Liverpool fans as he leaves Anfield

This Saturday, the match between Liverpool and Aston Villa, which ended in a 1-1 tie for the 37th round of Premier League, was marked by Roberto Firmino’s farewell to Anfield, the Reds’ stadium. After eight years, the Brazilian is leaving the club at the end of this season.

To stamp the last game at home for Liverpool, Firmino still scored the team’s equalizer, in the 44th minute of the final stage, and left the team still alive in the fight for a place in the Champions League.

“Words are not enough to describe what I am feeling right now. Of course I wanted to say goodbye to the fans with a home win. But I have nothing to complain about, just thank you. They had a beautiful party and moved me. Thank God I had the opportunity to score my last goal at Anfield in this shirt. The club, the fans and everyone who has worked with me since my arrival are kept in my heart. Thank you very much for everything”, highlighted the Brazilian.

Roberto Firmino arrived at Liverpool in 2015 and had his contract renewed in 2018 until June 2023. During this period, seven titles were won: the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2019, the Premier League in 2020 and the English League Cup, the FA Cup and the FA Super Cup in 2022.

Altogether there were 361 games defending Liverpool’s colors and 110 goals scored by Firmino.

The Brazilian still enters the field for another game with the club. Next Sunday, May 28th, Liverpool visit Southampton and say goodbye to the Premier League this season.
