American cyclist Hannah Ahrensman quit the sport after losing to a transgender man
American cyclist Hannah Arensman said she quit the sport because of the defeat of a transgender. Her words are quoted by The Telegraph.
The athlete considered that the appearance of transgender people in women’s competitions led to an unfair fight. In her opinion, she will lose, no matter how hard she trains. “The governing bodies, which were supposed to set the rules from the very beginning, need to understand this. The very people who are supposed to protect our sport are not doing this, ”Arensman emphasized.
Ahrensman is a 35-time US Champion. In December 2022, she lost to transgender Austin Killips in the women’s elite category at the national cyclocross championship.
The International Olympic Committee introduced a rule regarding transgender people in 2015. According to him, any transgender can participate in women’s competitions if the level of testosterone in his body does not exceed the allowable value.
