With a round in advance, Darmstadt secured access to the top division of the German Championship, the Bundesliga, this Friday by beating Magdeburg 1-0 at home, after six seasons away from the elite.
Leader of the second division since the 12th round, Darmstadt has seven points ahead of Hamburg (third place), which only has two more games to play and at the moment would be going to the repechage.

Founded in 1898, SV Darmstadt 98 will make its fifth appearance in the Bundesliga. Located on the outskirts of Frankfurt, the team will play the derby against Eintracht, its great local rival, next season.
Heidenheim, vice-leader of the second division, has a point of advantage over Hamburg and theoretically will not have difficulties to guarantee direct access to the elite, since in the final two rounds they will face the bottom two of the leaderboard: Sandhausen (18th place ) and Regensburg (17th).
