Inter Milan may have an important absence in the final of the Champions Leagueagainst Manchester City. That’s because the starting midfielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, suffered an injury during the semi-final against Milan and may not recover in time for the decision.
“Henrikh Mkhitaryan underwent instrumental clinical tests this morning at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano. The Nerazzurri midfielder suffered a muscle strain in the anterior rectus of his left thigh. His health status will be reassessed in the coming days,” wrote Inter de Milan in a note published this Thursday.

In the 44th minute of the first half of the return game against Milan, Mkhitaryan felt pain and fell on the lawn. After medical attention, the player asked to leave the field and was replaced by Marcelo Brozovic. Inter won the match 1-0 and advanced to the final of the Champions League, which will be played on June 10, in Turkey.
Mkhitaryan scored one of the goals nerazzurri in the first leg against Milan, in which opened 2-0 lead in the clash. The Armenian midfielder earned a starting spot in Simone Inzaghi’s squad this season alongside Nicolo Barella and Hakan ÇalhanoÄŸlu.
Hired in July 2022, Mkhitaryan became an important piece in Inter Milan’s midfield, mainly due to the injuries Brozovic suffered throughout the season. If Mkhitaryan does not play in the Champions League final, the Croatian should be his replacement.
Passing through the base categories of the São Paulo, Henrikh Mkhitaryan officially debuted for Armenia’s Pyunik and moved to Ukrainian football afterwards. After playing for Metalurg and Shakhtar Donetsk, the midfielder was hired by Borussia Dortmund, from Germany, and later went through Manchester United, Arsenal and Rome.
