The Russian men’s handball team lost the chance to play at the 2024 Olympics in Paris
The Russian men’s handball team lost the chance to compete at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. This is reported by TASS with reference to the International Handball Federation (IHF).
The organization explained that Russian athletes no longer have the opportunity to qualify. “For women, it remains on the condition that the Russians are allowed to participate in the upcoming world championship, through which it is possible to qualify,” the IHF added.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Russians and Belarusians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participating in starts.
The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The decision on the admission of Russians to the competition has not yet been made.
