Days after the announcement of the departure of its director of football Mateu Alemany, the Barcelona saw yet another leader ask to leave. Jordi Cruyff, sporting director and son of the legendary former player Johan Cruyff, informed this Tuesday that he will not renew his bond with the club, announced Barca in an official note.
The manager’s contract expires on June 30th and the manager’s intention is not to renew the agreement. Jordi’s decision is not related to Alemany’s departure, according to the Spanish newspaper Brand.
Jordi Cruyff still has no agreement signed with another club, but he made this decision after spending months thinking about the possibility of seeking new challenges after being part of a board that rebuilt Barça.
Still under contract until the end of June, Cruyff will continue to assist the club in the necessary matters until his official departure.
Together with Xavi and Alemany, the three were responsible for signing big names, such as Christensen, Kessie and Raphinha, and forming the team that brought the La Liga title back to Barcelona after four years.
