Doctor Evdokimov said that it would be difficult for Kostomarov to restore lost brain cells
Osteopathic neurologist Alexander Evdokimov explained the difficulty of restoring the Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov. His words are quoted by Vechernyaya Moskva.
“Now technologies make it possible to make prosthetics while preserving almost all the functions of nerve endings, but the situation with the brain is more complicated,” the specialist said. He stated that doctors have not learned how to restore and replace lost brain cells.
Earlier it became known that it was planned to install prostheses for Kostomarov in Russia. It was noted that foreign specialists could be involved in the operations, and prostheses could also be brought from abroad.
Kostomarov was admitted to the hospital on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to a long connection to a blood oxygenator and a ventilator, tissue began to die. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, the doctors had to amputate both feet of the figure skater, then the shins of both legs, the right hand, and several fingers of the left hand.
