Russian football player of Red Star Star Yegor Prutsev wanted to obtain Serbian citizenship

The Russian football player of Red Star Stars Egor Prutsev wanted to change his citizenship. This was told to Sport24 by his father Igor Prutsev.

“Egor has not received a Serbian passport at the moment, but there is an interest in obtaining Serbian citizenship to play in the Serbian championship, which has a strict limit on foreign players,” said Prutsev Sr. He added that his son did not receive an invitation to the Russian team and does not think about it, because he is focused on club football.

Prutsev, 20, joined Red Star in August 2022. His contract with the team runs until June 2026. Previously, he played for Sochi, Neftekhimik and Tekstilshchik. Prutsev also played two games as part of the Russian youth team.

On February 28, 2022, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. The teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team has lost the opportunity to compete for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
