Former volleyball player of the Kaliningrad Lokomotiv Malvina Smarzhek spoke about the persecution due to performances in Russia. Her words are quoted by Sport.pl.

“It got to the point where I was afraid to leave the house. There were times when people pushed me or spat on me. I was so depressed, I didn’t understand what was happening, ”said the Polish athlete. She stressed that because of this, she developed panic attacks, she began to be treated for depression.

Smarzek played for Lokomotiv from 2021 to 2022. As part of the team, she became the champion of Russia and the silver medalist of the country’s Cup. At the moment, the striker plays in the Brazilian Ozascu.

Poland actively opposes the participation of Russians in any international competitions. In April 2023, the country formed a coalition to prevent domestic athletes from participating in tournaments.
