Tuchel highlights Chelsea’s great performance

A great performance from Chelsea, current champion, allowed the classification for the Round of 16 of the Champions League by beating the already classified with authority Juventus by 4-0, this Tuesday, in a match played in London, for the fifth round of Group H of the European tournament.

“It was an incredible game and an excellent result,” celebrated Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel after the game.

“We wanted to be patient, but not fall asleep. The challenge was to be patient, but constantly increase the pace and intensity. And the team has done very, very well,” added the German coach to BT Sports.

The young Sierra Leone defender Trevoh Chabolah (22 years old) opened a great Chelsea performance in the 25th minute and in the second half Reece James (55), Callum Hudson-Odoi (58) and German Timo Werner (90 + 5) completed the rout for the English team, which only depends on them in the last round to finish first in the bracket.

“We try to close the gaps, but against such strong teams you can’t give them anything for a moment, because if they don’t punish you,” admitted Juventus captain Leonardo Bonucci after the game.

“Chelsea have great players and a very good mentality. They caused us a lot of problems, we have to admit that and try to improve,” added the defender.

After the great performance, the English team leads the group with 12 units, the same score as the Italians, who are second due to goal difference. Russian Zenit is third with four points, after a 1-1 draw with Swedish flashlight Malmö, who after five rounds, scored for the first time in this edition of the continental competition.

In the sixth and final round, on December 8, Juventus will host the Sweden team, while Chelsea will go to Russia to face Zenit.
