First defeat for the leading couple of the championship, on the 5th day of “Erremontari”
The Segurola-Juanenea and Urriza-Martirena couples have achieved victories in the 5th day of “Erremontari”. Segurola and Juanenea have given the surprise by endorsing the first defeat to the leading couple, Goikoetxea-Barrenetxea, and doing it, moreover, in two sets.
Urria and Martirena, for their part, have been far superior to Ansa and Zaldua, whom they have also beaten in two sets.
The first match of the day, ninth in the championship, began with a very disputed first set, especially in its final stretch. The blue couple, aware of the importance of the match, began by taking the lead and dominated a large part of the set, achieving comfortable leads of four and five goals, thanks to the good performance by Segurola up front and Juanenea with the serve.
Thus, with 4-9 and 6-11 in favor, everything seemed to indicate that the set would go through the same paths, but it has not been like that. Goikoetxea and Barrenetxea have fought to the last breath, and thanks to this they have reached the 14 equal. In the decisive goal, a forced miss by Endika Barrenetxea gave Beñat Segurola and Aritz Juanenea the set.
The second set got off to a rough start, as Beñat Segurola had to retire to the locker room for a few minutes after receiving a blow to his right wrist. The game has resumed and the blue couple has opened the gap on the scoreboard (2-7) with Juanenea very safe and Goikoetxea suffering a lot up front. That advantage has only increased and the blue couple has also won this second set and the match by a forceful 4-15.
First defeat for the leading couple in this championship and a very important victory for Segurola and Juananea.
Second victory for Urriza and Martirena
In the second match of the day, Urriza and Martirena have achieved a comfortable victory against Ansa-Zaldua, in a black day for the blues who, by not adding 16 goals in the overall score of the match, have lost one point in the standings.
The first set has been for the Colorados, who have played better planted on the court and with more confidence than their rivals. After a somewhat hesitant start, the equalizer at three goals gave way to an 11-4 run that put Urriza and Martirena 14-7 ahead. The set has finally been taken away by 15-10.
The second set has been a monologue for the Colorados, with Urriza and Martirena intractable on the court. In just a few minutes, they have gone ahead 7-1 on the scoreboard, and with Ansa II and Zaldua I completely out of the game, victory has not escaped them. They have signed the set with a resounding 15-3.
Urriza and Martirena thus add four points and Ansa and Zaldua lose one, not having added 16 goals in the total computation of the game.
