This Monday, Sampdoria received Empoli at the end of the 35th round of the Italian Championship and tied at 1 to 1. Alessandro Zanoli scored the home team’s goal in the first half and Roberto Piccoli left everything the same in stoppage time in the final stage.
With the result, Sampdoria reaches 18 points and has not won since March 19, when they beat Verona 3-1 for the 27th round. Still at the bottom of the competition, the traditional Italian club is already mathematically relegated to the second division. Empoli, on the other hand, is in 14th place and has 39 points.
Now, Sampdoria travels to visit Milan next Saturday, at 3:45 pm (Brasília time), for Serie A. Empoli, on the other hand, receives vice-leader Juventus in their next commitment, on Monday, at 3:45 pm.

The game
The first half was quite balanced in terms of chances created, but Empoli was more accurate in finishing. Sampdoria started the game with more possession, but control of the match was well divided throughout the first 45 minutes. Even so, at 34 minutes, the home team opened the scoring with Alessandro Zanoli and confirmed the advantage on the scoreboard going to the locker rooms.
In the final stage, needing to chase the result, Empoli maintained more possession of the ball, but had few real chances created in the final half of the game. After much insistence, in the 48th minute, Roberto Piccoli finally broke through Sampdoria’s defense and evened the score, to the dismay of the fans present at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.
