Manchester United’s Sabitzer suffers injury, out for remainder of season

This Monday, the Manchester United confirmed the injury to midfielder Sabitzer’s meniscus, in a statement on social media. With that, the Austrian is out for the rest of the season.

The player was not related to the team’s victory against Wolverhampton, for the English Premier League, last Saturday, due to a complaint of knee pain, after coming off the bench in the defeat to West Ham, also for the national competition.

Sabitzer was borrowed from Bayern Munchen to Manchester United in the middle of the current season. For the club, he scored three goals and distributed an assist in 18 matches, for four different competitions (Premier League, Europa League, League Cup and FA Cup). The 29-year-old midfielder took part in the final against Newcastle and secured the Carabao Cup title.

So far, no decision has been taken on whether the player will remain at United after the end of his loan spell, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. The athlete’s bond with the club runs until the end of this season.

Without Sabitzer, Manchester United is looking to secure a place for the next edition of the Champions League. At the moment, Erik ten Hag’s men are in fourth place, with 66 points, four more than Liverpool, the first club outside the classification zone for the continental tournament. In their next match in English, the team faces Bournemouth this Saturday, at 11 am (Brasília time), at Vitality Stadium.
