Barcelona president maintains contact with Messi and does not worry about interest from Saudi clubs

The president of BarcelonaJoan Laporta, has much to celebrate after winning the Spanish Championship, however, he returned to talk about Messi’s situation. In an interview with TV3the manager said he has kept in touch with the Argentine lately.

“I spoke with Leo to redirect the situation that occurred when I had to put the institution ahead of everything, including him, the best player in the world. He is still in Paris, with not very pleasant situations, ”he said.

“We’ve exchanged messages lately. The truth is that the conversation was affectionate and pleasant. I congratulated him on the World Cup. We’ve known each other for many years, there’s a relationship,” he added.

Messi’s contract with Paris Saint Germain ends in June, and the French club has already decided that it will not renew the bond. Last week, after reflecting on a possible agreement between the player and a team from Saudi Arabia, the Argentine’s father denied it and said that he will only decide the future at the end of the season.

The speculation does not worry Laporta, who minimized the interest of Saudi teams. According to the representative, “Barça is Barça” and there are no competitors.

“With all due respect to the (teams) in Saudi Arabia, who are doing a great job, but Barça is Barça. And Barcelona is his home. The club can compete against the whole world. History supports us and the feeling of our 400 million fans is very strong. We love Leo, but we’re not going to move high figures to bring him in. The club is in an austerity plan”, concluded the president of Barcelona.

Messi’s future has been speculated on by different teams in world football. The Spanish press recently reported that Al-Hilal made a proposal of 400 million euros per year to have the Argentine.
