Rehabilitologist Konstantin Ternovoi explained the possible invitation of German doctors for prosthetics to the Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov. His words are quoted by Sport24.
Ternovoy said that in Russia there is no industry for individual prostheses. “It’s not about specialists, but about industry. We cannot produce prosthetics that would fit Roman. I think specialists from Germany will come to Kostomarov, where the production of such prostheses is very developed, ”he said.
The rehabilitation specialist added that Kostomarov is not recommended to travel, so doctors can be invited to him to create prostheses.
Earlier it became known that it is planned to install prostheses in Russia. It was noted that the operations will be carried out when the state of health of the skater allows it.
Kostomarov was admitted to the hospital on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to a long connection to a blood oxygenator and a ventilator, tissue began to die. According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, the doctors had to amputate both feet of the figure skater, then the shins of both legs, the right hand, and several fingers of the left hand.
