The Rennes club, from Ligue 1 this Sunday (14) paid tribute to Arman Soldin, an AFP journalist killed this week in Ukraine.
Raised in the city of Rennes, Arman even played in the team’s base categories.
Just before the start of the match against Troyes, the players and the public at the Roazhon stadium applauded the 32-year-old journalist as the screens showed his image.
For the occasion, the club invited around 30 people close to the young journalist, including his family, who still live in Rennes.
Born in Sarajevo, Arman Soldin arrived in France as a child to escape the war and left in Rennes, where he grew up, the memory of a brilliant student and passionate about football.
Hired by the AFP in London, he maintained his ties with Rennes even from the British capital. On his Twitter account, a video from September 2021 shows him in the press box at Tottenham Stadium, with one eye on the pitch and the other on a Marseille-Rennes match on his tablet.
Last fall (Northern Hemisphere) he became AFP’s video coordinator in Kiev.
