Thus, the team from Naples ends a six-match unbeaten streak – three wins and three draws – and suffers only the fourth defeat in the competition, remaining with 83 points. On the other hand, Monza extends the positive streak – which has lasted seven games, with four wins and three draws -, reaching 49 goals and rising to ninth place.
In the next round, therefore, Napoli will host Internazionale, at 1 pm (BrasÃlia time) on Sunday, at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, in Naples (ITA). On the other hand, Monza will visit Sassuolo, on Friday, starting at 3.45 pm, at Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore, in Reggio Emilia (ITA).
Monza’s goals against Napoli
Playing in front of their fans, Monza was not intimidated by the national champion and went on the attack. In this way, he opened the scoring in the 19th minute of the first half, with Dany Mota. The Portuguese received a pass from Matteo Pessina inside the area and beat goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini to make it 1-0.
In the 42nd minute, Michele Di Gregorio blocked Anguissa’s shot at the edge of the area and the referee went to the VAR monitor to check a possible penalty for Napoli. However, after analyzing the bid, he decided that there was no penalty and ordered the game to continue.
On the way back from the break, Monza needed eight minutes to extend the lead on the scoreboard. Andrea Petagna took advantage of the spare at the entrance to the area and hit the left corner of the opponent’s goal to score the second for the hosts.
Nine minutes later, Napoli claimed another possible penalty. However, after once again checking the play on the video referee, the referee indicated that there was no infraction and did not award the penalty.
