Olympic champion in handball Vladlena Bobrovnikova diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Olympic champion in handball Vladlena Bobrovnikova announced that she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma – a tumor disease of the lymphatic system. Her words are given on the website of Rostov-Don, for which she stands.
The handball player said she felt pain over her collarbone in April 2023. “They quickly did all the necessary tests and positron emission tomography to see where the disease had spread,” the athlete said.
Bobrovnikova added that she is undergoing treatment at the National Medical Research Center of Oncology of the Ministry of Health in Rostov-on-Don. “I’m in the oncology institute for a week and they give me chemotherapy, with restorative treatment, then I’m at home for a week,” she described her treatment.
Bobrovnikova is a five-time champion of Russia and a seven-time winner of the Russian Cup along with Rostov-Don. As part of the Russian team, she won the gold of the 2016 Olympic Games, the silver of the 2020 Games and the bronze of the 2019 World Championship.
