Indonesian Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotejo spoke about the desire of the Russian national football team to hold a friendly match. His words from the meeting with Russian Ambassador Lyudmila Vorobyeva are available on the organization’s website.
“We would like to hold a friendly match between the football teams of Russia and Indonesia. I hope it happens,” he said. The minister added that the event must first be coordinated with the Indonesian Football Association.
Earlier, several more possible rivals of the Russian team became known. It was reported that matches with Cameroon and the UAE could be organized. President of the Russian Football Union Alexander Dyukov noted that it is too early to talk about meetings with European teams.
The Russian national team has not played in international tournaments since February 2022 due to the sanctions of the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations.
