In the 31st minute of the game, the referee Jesús Gil Manzano awarded a penalty against AC Milan, but changed the decision after checking the episode using the video assistant referee system (VAR).
Dzeko became one of the oldest goalscorers in the history of the Champions League playoffs. He struck the gates of rivals at the age of 37 years and 54 days.
