Le Parisien: PSG fans boycotted the club because of Messi and disagreements with the management

Collectif Ultras Paris, an active supporter community of Paris Saint-Germain, announced a boycott of the club due to disagreements with the management. The statement of the organization leads Le Parisien.

The fans met with representatives of PSG and said after negotiations that they would stop attending matches of teams from the club’s system until further notice. “We do not intend to compromise on our freedoms. We are waiting for clear answers from the club on a number of points in order to possibly reconsider our positions, ”said Collectif Ultras Paris.

Earlier, for several weeks, active PSG fans staged protests demanding a change in the team’s leadership due to an unsuccessful performance in the 2022/2023 season, as well as the removal of Messi and the Brazilian striker Neymar from the squad. RMC Sport later reported that the club had limited attendance at matches to 450 representatives of Collectif Ultras Paris.

Messi’s contract with PSG runs until June 2023 with the option of a one-season extension. Neymar in July 2022 already took advantage of the option of an automatic extension of the agreement until 2027, thereby complicating the sale to the Parisians.
