Deputy Zhurova said that the scandal with St. George’s ribbons at the World Cup was provoked by Ukraine
State Duma Deputy Svetlana Zhurova appreciated the scandal with the St. George ribbons at the World Championships (WCH) in judo in Doha, Qatar. Her words are quoted by TASS.
“Ukraine will always provoke such situations in order to further achieve our isolation. At all the sites where Russian athletes still remain, provocations are arranged only by Ukraine, ”she said. The deputy stressed that after such incidents, many sports federations refuse to allow the Russians.
Earlier on May 10, a representative of the International Judo Federation (IJF) said that the organizers of the World Championships asked Russian fans to remove the St. George ribbons, but they refused to do so. After that, the fans were removed from the stands of the arena.
The World Judo Championship takes place from 7 to 14 May in Doha. Russians act on it in a neutral status.
