CSKA basketball player Alexei Shved released from hospital after attack
CSKA basketball club defender Alexei Shved recorded a video message to the players and fans after the beating. The athlete spoke on Instagram (a social network banned in Russia; owned by the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned).
“I was discharged from the hospital, I feel much better. I miss you very much. Good luck to the guys in the next games,” Shved said. He also thanked everyone for their help and support.
On May 5, a court in Moscow arrested four suspects in beating a basketball player. 20-year-old Prince Amirslanov, his 17-year-old brother Ramzin, their driver Yusuf and 19-year-old Pisarev were sent to a pre-trial detention center until July 2. The defendants were charged under Part 2 of Article 213 (“Hooliganism committed by a group of persons with the use of violence against citizens”) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The attack on Shved became known on May 2. As a result of a fight at the entrance to a restaurant in the center of Moscow, the basketball player received a head injury. At the hospital, he was also diagnosed with retrograde amnesia, a fracture of the temporal bone, and an epidural hematoma.
