Argentine Giovanni Simeone on loan from Hellas Verona to Napoli

Argentine striker Giovanni Simeone, who scored 17 goals last season with Hellas Verona in A leaguewas loaned to Napoliannounced the two clubs this Thursday.

The loan of the coach’s son to the Neapolitan club Atletico MadridDiego Simeone, has a duration of one year with a purchase option, according to press releases from both entities.

That option could turn into a purchase obligation of 12 million euros in a year, depending on certain conditions, the media reported.

“He’s someone that Napoli needs. And Napoli is what the player needs. He’s a good signing,” said the coach of the Neapolitan team, Luciano Spalletti, last weekend.

Giovanni Simeone shone last season as a forward for Verona, then led by the new coach of Olympique de Marseille, Croatian Igor Tudor.

With 17 goals, he finished fourth in the top scorer, tied with Roma’s Tammy Abraham, behind the trio formed by Ciro Immobile (Lazio), or Dusan Vlahovic (Juventus) and Argentine Lautaro Martinez (Inter).

Simeone, considered a priori as a replacement for current Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, could have the opportunity to play for the first time in European competition, as the club will play in the Champions League this season.
