Urriza-Martirena and Goikoetxea-Barrenetxea win the 4th day of “Erremontari”
Victories for Urriza-Martirena and Goikoetxea-Barrenetxea on the fourth day of “Erremontari” played at the Galarreta de Hernani fronton.
In it first match, Urriza and Martirena have added their first victory of the tournament by beating Ezkurra II and Zubiri by two sets to one (15-6, 11-15 and 5-3).
The first set had only one color, red, despite the fact that it was Ezkurra II and Zubiri who went ahead with the first goals. But after the equalizer at two, Urriza and Martirena dominated the rally, helped by the good work of Ibai Martirena with the serve, which did a lot of damage to his rivals.
Thus, the Colorados have enjoyed comfortable advantages (7-3, 10-4 and 12-6), and have finally won the set by a resounding 15-6.
And if the first set has been red, the second has had a completely blue start. The game has changed, with Ezkurra and Zubiri much finer and better positioned on the field, and a more delusional Urriza. The blues have gone ahead by a comfortable 4-11, thanks to a 0-9 run. After 5-13 the red reaction has arrived, which has come close to 10-13 but the set was already decided: 11-15 for Ezkurra II and Zubiri.
The third and final one, to 5 goals, has been a hard-fought set, in which the reds have gone ahead 3-1, then the tie has been reached at 3, but the victory has not escaped them (5-3). It is the first victory for Urriza and Martirena in this tournament. They add 3 more points in the standings, for one added by their rivals, Ezkurra II and Zubiri.
Victory for the leading couple
The second game of the fourth day has faced the leading couple, Goikoetxea and Barrenetxea, with Aldabe and Azpiroz, fifth in the standings at that time, in a beautiful game and very enjoyed.
The blues entered the game very well and took the lead with the first goals of the first set. At first, without being able to open big differences, but later the superiority on the field has been reflected in the score: 3-5, 4-6 and 5-10. In the end, they have awarded this first game for 7-15.
The second set has been very even until its halfway point. After the 7-7, a 6-0 run allowed Goikoetxea and Barrenetxea to get 13-7 up and finally win the game by 15-10 to equalize the match to one set.
The match has been decided in the third and final set, which has fallen on the side of the couple for a tight and fought 5-4giving them their third championship victory.
Classification
With four days played, Goikoetxea and Barrenetxea lead the standings with 10 points. With six are Ezkurra II and Zubiri and with four the rest of the couples: Aldabe-Azpiroz, Ansa II-Zaldua I, Segurola-Juanenea and Urriza-Martirena.
