Nottingham Forest had a good performance by the Brazilian Danilo to beat Southampton, at home, by 4 to 3 and leave the relegation zone of the English Championship, this Monday. Awoniyi (twice), Gibbs-White and Danilo scored for Forest, while Alcaraz, Lyanco and Ward-Prowse pulled back for the opposition.
With 33 points, Steve Cooper’s team overtook Everton, who thrashed Brighton, by 5-1 – also leaving Z3 – and rose to 16th position. Southampton, in turn, with 24 points, sank even further into the bottom of the competition, and had practically decreed relegation.
In the next round, Nottingham Forest faces Chelsea, on Saturday, at 11 am (Brasília time), at Stamford Bridge, for the 36th round. Southampton, on the other hand, receives Fullham, on the same day and time.

Nottingham Forest opened the scoring in the 18th minute of the first half. After a quick free-kick, Danilo launched a good ball to Brennan Johnson, who advanced on the right and crossed the area for Awoniyi, who, in the middle of two Southampton players, finished on goal. The home team doubled the score two minutes later.
Danilo received from Renan Lodi in the area, stretched out, adjusted to the middle and Awoniyi, at first, turned and studied McCarthy’s net. Southampton came out on the counterattack and found the opposing defense spaced out. Armstrong touched the area and Alcaraz, free, reduced the damage. However, even before the end of the first half, Gibbs-White scored Forest’s third, from the penalty spot.
Five minutes into the second half, Lyanco scored Southampton’s second. After a corner kick, the defender climbed into the middle of Forest’s defense and headed towards the goal. Seeking equality, the visitors scared Forest’s defense, and Navas was forced to make a good save to save another Lyanco header.
Brazilian Danilo also left his in the game. After a cross in the area, the ball fell to Danilo, who finished to score Forest’s fourth goal of the game. Already at 45, Felipe even made one more for the home team, but later the bid was annulled for offside. In stoppage time, Ward-Prowse scored Southampton’s third from the penalty spot.
