The Australian rider Michael Matthews, from Team Jayco AlUla, has been awarded this Monday to the sprint the third stage of the Giro d’Italia, disputed between Vasto and Melfi on 216 kilometersahead of the Danish Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) and the also Australian Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck).

This Tuesday the fourth stage will take the peloton from Venosa to Lago Laceno with a 175 km route, the first day in the mountains that includes 3 second category climbs: La Crocelle (13.5 km to 4.3), Valico di Monti Carruozzo (8.8 km at 4.9) and Colle Molella (9.7 km at 6.2), with the top 3 km from the finish line.
