Zenit head coach Sergei Semak repeated the record for victories in the Russian Premier League (RPL) thanks to the blue-white-blue championship in the 2022/2023 season. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.
Semak is the second specialist who managed to win the Russian championship as a coach five times in a row. Earlier, Oleg Romantsev showed a similar result, winning the tournament with Spartak from 1997 to 2001. In total, he has eight victories in the championship, Semak has five.
Earlier on May 7, Zenit beat Spartak 3-2 and secured the title ahead of schedule in the 2022/2023 season. Petersburgers take first place in the standings with 64 points. From the closest pursuers – CSKA – they are separated by 13 points.
Zenit has been winning the Russian championship since 2019. All this time the team is headed by Sergey Semak.
