The RFU said that the Russian team plans to play two friendly matches in June
Maxim Mitrofanov, Secretary General of the Russian Football Union (RFU), spoke about the plans of the national team for the upcoming matches. Details became known to the publication “Sports Day by Day”.
“Now we are finalizing the agreements. We expect to play two matches in June, at the window of the International Football Federation (FIFA). As soon as agreements are reached, we will announce,” Mitrofanov said. He noted that negotiations are underway with all teams that have free windows.
Earlier, RFU President Alexander Dyukov said that the team could meet with players from Asia, Africa and Latin America. “Sooner or later we will play with Europe, but I would not be in a hurry to say that we will play some kind of match in June,” he summed up.
The Russian national team has not played in international tournaments since February 2022 due to sanctions by FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations.
