Football club “Ferencváros” for the second time in a row became the champion of Hungary under the leadership of Russian specialist Stanislav Cherchesov. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.
The team secured the victory ahead of schedule. This became known after the second-placed Kecskemet lost 0:1 to Honved in the match of the 30th round. Ferencváros has 60 points after 29 games. The club has four more meetings ahead of the tournament in the 2022/2023 season.
April 10 Cherchesov announced the extension of the contract with the Hungarian team. According to the specialist, the club has activated the option to extend the agreement for another year, until the summer of 2024. After the Russian took charge of Ferencváros in December 2021, the team became the champion of Hungary in the 2021/2022 season, and also won the Hungarian Cup.
Since 2016, Cherchesov has been the head coach of the Russian national team. Together with him, the team reached the quarterfinals of the home world championship. The coach left the post after an unsuccessful performance at the 2021 European Championships.
