The European Athletics Championships in Berlin began on Monday. Two medals were credited to the account of the Polish team already in the first competition. . There were also other Polish accents. One of them was Magdalena Stefanowicz’s performance in the qualifying rounds of the 100-meter race. The 21-year-old reached 11.44 seconds and was promoted to the semi-finals.
This season, Ewa Swoboda shows a great form
We will know the European Champion on this distance on Tuesday. At 8:35 pm the semi-finals will begin, in which, apart from Stefanowicz, we will see Ewa Swoboda. According to the new rules, the Polish woman did not have to run in the qualifying rounds, and all because of the 4th place in the European ranking. Hopes related to her performance in Munich are high. Swoboda is in great shape this year. This is evidenced by the broken life record, which is now 11.05 seconds. During the championship, the sprinter will aim at breaking the 11 seconds barrier. Although she managed to achieve it during this year’s Polish championship in Suwa³ki, the result of 10.99 s could not be recognized due to the favorable wind.
These results prove that Polka could stand to fight for the best result. The minimum plan is to improve the result from Berlin, where Swoboda was eliminated in the semi-finals. If we manage to fulfill it, everything is possible in the decisive course. Competition, however, is very tough. The gold favorite is Dina Asher-Smith, who finished fourth during the World Championships in Eugene and equaled her personal best (10.83 seconds). Her main rivals will be Mujinga Kambundji and the other British, Daryll Neita.
