Fan with Ukrainian flag kicked out of WTA tournament match between Russian tennis players
At the qualifying match of the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati (Ohio, USA), a scandal involving a fan occurred between Russians Anastasia Potapova and Anna Kalinskaya. It is reported by Yahoo Sports.
The fan was sitting in the stands, wrapped in the Ukrainian flag, which was noticed by one of the participants in the match. The security guards kicked the fan out of the stands, forcing her to leave the flag outside the court. Later, the WTA explained that the reason was that the canvas exceeded the maximum allowable size.
The game between Potapova and Kalinskaya took place on Sunday, August 14th. The meeting ended with the victory of the latter in two sets – 7:5, 6:1.
On August 12, Russian tennis player Veronika Kudermetova spoke about her relationship with athletes from Ukraine. According to the Russian woman, she greets everyone and communicates calmly.
