Napoli seek draw against Udinese and win first Italian without Maradona

This Thursday, the Napoli visited Udinese for the 33rd round of the Italian Championship and drew 1-1. Lovric opened the scoring for the home team and top scorer Osimhen left everything the same in the second stage.

The result was enough to secure the Neapolitan club the 2022-23 Italian Championship title. This is the third Scudetto in Napoli’s history and the first Serie A title since 1990, when Diego Maradona was the big name of the team.

Now, Napoli have 80 points and can no longer be reached by Lazio, who come in second with 64 points. Udinese have 43 points and are only 12th in the table.

Napoli’s next match is in front of their fans at Estadio Diego Armando Maradona. The Italian champion faces Fiorentina, on Sunday, at 13:00 (Brasília time). Udinese, on the other hand, are still at home and will receive Sampdoria, this Monday, at 1:30 pm.

The game

Despite starting with more ball possession and bringing more danger to the opponent’s goal, Napoli saw Udinese opening the scoring in the 13th minute, with Lovric from inside the area. Until the end of the first stage, the leader of the Italian kept the ball more at his feet, but was unable to create chances to tie. On the other hand, Udinese also didn’t take much danger and the game went to half-time at 1-0.

On the way back to the second half, at seven minutes, Napoli evened the score after a hit in the area and another accurate finish by Osimhen. Even with the necessary result to guarantee the Scudetto, the visiting team did not take their foot off the accelerator and sought the comeback.
