Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Magomed Ankalaev challenged former champions of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Jan Blachowicz of Poland and Alex Pereira of Brazil. The corresponding message appeared in Twitter athlete.
“Yan, if you are ready for another fight, let me know! If not, then I will be more than happy to welcome Pereira to the new weight class and show that there are different levels in this game!” Ankalaev said.
On April 9, Pereira lost to New Zealander Israel Adesanya and lost the organization’s middleweight championship belt. After that, he decided to move up to the light heavyweight category.
On December 11, 2022, Ankalaev and Blachowicz fought for the UFC light heavyweight title. The fight lasted five rounds and ended in a draw. The Russian fighter did not agree with the referee’s decision and threatened to leave the promotion.
