22-year-old Ak Bars forward Dmitry Voronkov will sign a contract with the NHL club Columbus

Russian striker “Ak Bars” Dmitry Voronkov will sign a contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets, playing in the National Hockey League (NHL). It is reported by TASS.

Agent Alexander Chernykh, representing his interests, explained that Voronkov had decided to “try his hand in North America” next season.

The term of the agreement of the 22-year-old striker with the team is not specified. In 2019, Voronkov was already selected by Columbus in the NHL Draft in the fourth round under the 114th overall number, but did not play a single match for the club and returned to Ak Bars Kazan.

Voronkov has been playing for Ak Bars since February 2019. During this time, he played 232 matches in which he scored 99 points. As part of the Russian national team, the striker also became the silver medalist of the 2022 Olympic Games.

On May 2, it became known that Russian goalkeeper Georgy Romanov signed a contract with the San Jose Sharks KHL club. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has a two-year contract. Previously, the hockey player played only for Russian teams.
