Rayo Vallecano beats Mallorca and overtakes Barcelona in the Spanish Championship

In a crucial game for qualifying in the Spanish Championship, Rayo Vallecano hosted Mallorca at the Vallecas Futbol Field and won 3-1. In this way, the home team leaves Barcelona behind and remains firm in its quest to qualify for the Europa League.

The result takes Rayo Vallecano to 23 points, in sixth place in La Liga. Mallorca follows with 15 points and in 13th place.

The home team dominated the first half and opened the scoring after 15 minutes with Sergio Guardiola. Four minutes later, Álvaro García received a pass in the trejo measure and increased Rayo Vallecano’s advantage.

Mallorca managed to balance their actions in the second stage, but the reaction stopped with Rayo Valleceno’s third goal in the 17th minute, with Trejo taking a penalty. The visitors managed to reduce the injury in the 43rd minute with Prats, but it was too late to try to draw.

The two teams return to the field for the Spanish Championship this Saturday. At 12:15 pm (GMT), Rayo Vallecano visits Valencia at the Estadio de Mestalla. Mallorca hosts Getafe at the Iberostar Estádio at 2:30 pm.
